VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

VITA in Lancaster is committed to providing free, high quality tax preparation to individuals and families making $70,000 or less, helping them save and reducing the anxiety of tax time. This free service saves taxpayers the expense of tax preparation services, which average about $273. Last year we saved taxpayers more than $2.4 million in fees. We are a program of United Way of Lancaster County, helping the community since 2007. 

VITA volunteers work to lift the tax burden in Lancaster by offering low-income families free tax preparation. We will provide all the training you need  — no experience necessary.  In 2023, we were able to help 10% of eligible Lancaster County residents. With more volunteers, we can make an even bigger impact.
