Children Deserve A Chance Foundation

Started in 2004 by former University of Maryland Quarterback Jordan Steffy, the Children Deserve a Chance Foundation (CDCF) has grown from an individual's effort to a nationwide quest to better the lives of our Youth. The mission of The Children Deserve A Chance Foundation is to aid in the financial, emotional and spiritual development of underprivileged and disabled youth. The CDCF also takes pride in working with other non-profit organizations to assist in advancing their missions. Within the city of Lancaster there sits a store front building on the 400 Block of North Queen Street; a youth haven where education counts and good citizenship matters. This building is home to the Children Deserve A Chance Foundation (CDCF); a non-profit organization who prides itself in providing a safe and uplifting atmosphere where students can receive help with homework, set and accomplish goals, plan for college and obtain emotional support. With an ultimate goal of getting kids to and through college, CDCF is proud to provide local students the opportunities for Scholarships, Motivational Speakers, and Educational Programs, dedicated to Literacy Enhancement, Character Development, Mentorship and Entrepreneurship. Our largest program, the BowTie Program, consists of 35 inner-city students of all ages and backgrounds; each student embodying tremendous potential, yet facing some sort of adversity in his or her life. As full-time mentors and tutors, we develop relationship with the students, parents and educators to ensure a recurring theme of success in each of our scholar's lives and futures. Our objective is to be a beacon of hope to adolescents who are in high-risk areas, where they may be surrounded with drugs and gangs and are in need of positive role models. We work closely with students to develop individualized plans of action with one goal in mind; getting every child into college. Since the beginning of our program, we have led 100% of our graduating seniors to college and look forward to continued success.

The Children Deserve a Chance was founded in 2004 by former University of Maryland Quarterback Jordan Steffy. Since then, we have significantly grown in size, with our team comprised of two full-time staff members, several interns and countless volunteers.
