HOPE was founded in 1997 by Jeff Rutt, a nationally-recognized residential homebuilder and owner of Keystone Custom Homes. Mr. Rutt observed the limitations of the short-term relief assistance his church was providing to a partner church in Ukraine. Mr. Rutt listened to a pastor who specifically asked for a ?hand up? as opposed to a ?hand-out,? a comment that started a search for alternative approaches to poverty alleviation. This search led Mr. Rutt to microfinance, a sustainable means of improving the well-being of people in a cost-effective way that did not create dependency on the giver

HOPE International invests in the dreams of families in the world's underserved communities as we proclaim and live the Gospel. We share the hope of Christ as we provide biblically based training, savings services, and loans that restore dignity and break the cycle of poverty. The love of Jesus Christ motivates us to identify with those living in poverty and be His hands and feet as we strive to glorify God.
