Volunteer: Volunteer with Our Emergency Shelter – Make a Lasting Impact YMCA Homeless Shelter Volunteer Opportunity

Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Join our team of dedicated volunteers at the YMCA Emergency Shelter, where we provide a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for individuals experiencing homelessness.

We’re seeking compassionate and reliable volunteers to assist with essential morning operations that help guests transition out of the shelter and start their day with dignity.

Volunteer Responsibilities Include:

Wake-Up Support (6:00 AM): Gently wake guests in a calm, caring manner to help them prepare for the day ahead.

Guest Departures (6:00–7:00 AM): Assist guests with gathering belongings, encourage timely departures, and offer support as needed.

Morning Clean-Up (6:00–7:00 AM): Help with light cleaning and resetting the space to ensure the shelter remains clean and welcoming.

Preferred Shift Commitment:

Morning Shift: 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM

Volunteers able to assist with both morning and evening shifts are especially valued.

Volunteers Needed for Low-Barrier Shelter

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate volunteers to help support our new low-barrier shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness. Volunteers will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and organized environment.

Volunteer Shifts:

Evening Shift: 6:00 PM - 8:30 PMNight Shift: 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

Check-In & Intake (7:30 PM - 8:00 PM): Greet guests, assist with intake paperwork, and direct them to their assigned beds.Settling Guests (8:00 PM - 8:30 PM): Help guests arrange their belongings and distribute bedding, towels, and hygiene kits.Shower Assistance (8:30 PM - 9:30 PM): Guide guests to shower facilities, provide necessary items, and ensure privacy and cleanliness.

Preference for volunteers able to commit to both evening and morning shifts, but evening shift participation is welcome!
