Needs From: United Way of Lancaster County

Volunteer: Lancaster Rec: 2026 Open Streets Lancaster Volunteers

We at Lancaster Rec are in search of volunteers willing to assist with operation of our 2026 Open Streets Lancaster event. This event will be taking place on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, from 11:00AM to 3:00PM.

Lancaster Rec’s 11th Annual Open Streets Lancaster event will temporarily close Water Street to motorized vehicles and open them to the Lancaster community. Our Lancaster event joins more than 130 Open Streets initiatives in the United States and Canada. Open Streets Lancaster is different than a block party or street fair. It is part of a broad effort to encourage physical activity, re-imagine the City as a place to walk and bike for transportation, help people meet, and steward meaningful social connections.

Volunteers will be tasked with assisting with event set-up, event break down, as well as the overall event during the hours of operationtion.

If you have any questions or comment related to this event, please email Mathieu Schroeder at mschroeder@lancasterrec.org.

Thank You!
