YWCA Lancaster is seeking energetic, caring, and creative volunteers to support childcare during our monthly Creative Crossroads event series—co-sponsored with Advoz and River Crossing Playback Theatre. This community event brings neighbors together through art, culture, creativity, and connection, and childcare volunteers play a vital role in making the experience accessible for all families.
✨ A $50 stipend is provided for each event.
Childcare Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers help create a positive, safe, and fun environment for children while their parents participate in the event. Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining a safe and supervised space in the childcare room
- Following check‑in and check‑out procedures
- Communicating promptly with onsite staff and parents if concerns arise
- Engaging children in activities such as crafts, games, reading, and play
- Adhere to Mandated Reporting requirements for Pennsylvania
- Following all emergency procedures to ensure children's safety
Qualifications
- Previous childcare experience preferred but not required
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Patient, understanding, and reliable
- Strong communication skills
- Completion of all required Pennsylvania clearances:
- PA State Criminal Check (free for volunteers)
- PA Child Abuse History Check (free for volunteers)
- FBI Criminal Background Check ($22.95 for volunteers; valid for 5 years)
