This project is a great opportunity to support a local nonprofit shop while helping ensure customers have access to quality clothing items for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.

Join Lancaster County Chooses Love for a hands-on volunteer opportunity supporting two important community projects: refreshing the clothing closet and updating the library database and displays.

Clothing Closet Refresh:
Volunteers will help transition the clothing closet from summer to winter items by sorting, folding, organizing, and reorganizing clothing throughout the closet and basement storage areas.

Library Database & Display Update:
Volunteers interested in library support can assist with entering books into the database, shelving books by genre and category, and reviewing inventory by comparing books to the database spreadsheet to identify duplicate or missing entries.

Volunteers may choose the area that best matches their interests and skills.

Water Street Mission

Help create a clean, welcoming environment for guests at Water Street Mission by volunteering during Week of Caring 2026 (September 14–19, 2026)!

When guests arrive at the shelter, they are provided with personal storage bins to safely store their belongings. Volunteers will play an important role in preparing these bins for the next guest by thoroughly sanitizing and drying them alongside Water Street Mission staff. This simple but meaningful project helps ensure every guest is welcomed with dignity and care.

Interested in learning more about Water Street Mission? Groups may choose to attend an optional Welcome Session either 8:00–9:00 AM before volunteering or 11:00 AM–12:00 PM after the project to learn about the organization's mission and additional volunteer opportunities.

The trail is paved and approximately 1.3 miles total. Volunteers will walk half of the trail and return to the starting point while collecting trash along the way.
