Warehouse 916, once renovated and approved, will
consolidate our food distribution and improve the quality and quantity of
food that we can provide to the Cocalico School District. From storing food
at two separate locations and using large coolers to store cold foods, we
will now have commercial appliances to keep frozen food frozen and dairy and
produce fresh. The size of our storage rooms limited the quantity of families
we could serve, so we were only focused on families with school aged
children. With the move to Warehouse 916, we hope to open food distribution
to the elderly, homeless, and families without children so that no one in our
region suffers from Food Insecurity. As of September 11, we hope to move
the food from Peace UCC Church in Adamstown to the new Warehouse 916.
Between packing the food into boxes, loading it into cars and then unloading
at the Warehouse 916, there will be jobs for all levels of ability and ages,
but 16 and older would be helpful and a couple of volunteers with cars for
transporting the food the 5 miles would also be helpful.
We would meet at the church at 37 East Swartzville Road, Denver (near Weaver's Markets) to load everything up, and then drive over to Warehouse 916.
