Who We Are
Thank you for your interest in PA CARES (Pennsylvania Americans showing Compassion, Assistance, and Reaching out with Empathy for Service Members.) PA CARES members share important and needed information for soldiers, their families, and the agencies that serve our military personnel. Information shared by members includes programs/events/services and employment opportunities in the state of PA.
Members have the opportunity to meet on the second Thursday of most months at the Harrisburg Military Post at 12 Noon. (Currently being done via a conference call). We have a speaker that does a 30 to 60 minute presentation on a program that could be of benefit to our service members and their families. After the presentation there is a round table discussion where all members get a chance to talk about their service/program/ and upcoming events.
Meeting attendance is anywhere from 5 to 15 people per meeting and the e-mail list has about 350 members from across the state of PA.
In between meetings members share information on programs/services/employment opportunities/events. Members also periodically share unmet needs of soldiers and their families. The group has found that having 350 plus members look for a solution increases the odds of finding a solution.
