Who We Are
The nonprofit National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, Inc. (NAWCC) was established in 1943 by passionate collectors of watches and clocks. Its campus in Columbia, PA, is home to the National Watch & Clock Museum, the School of Horology, and the Fortunat Mueller-Maerki Library and Research Center. The Museum began as a member’s privately held collection in Columbia, PA. The growing collection and NAWCC operations moved into a larger building in 1971, and the Museum opened to the public in 1977 and merged with the NAWCC in 2004. The Museum plays an important role in preserving horological artifacts for the next generation and fostering a wide appreciation for the craftsmanship of clocks and watches and the stories they tell. Our vision for the National Watch & Clock Museum is to make a visit there an inspirational, educational experience for the general public and a must-see destination for watch and clock professionals, collectors, and enthusiasts.
What We Do
Our publications share the Association’s news and research into the history, art, and science of horology via print and digital formats. The School of Horology provides workshops for clock and watch servicing, restoration, and repair. The Library & Research Center fosters research and proliferation of horological knowledge. Museum education shares the stories behind the artifacts and teaches responsible conservation methods. The Museum offers learning events such as lecture series for members and the public, plus community-engaging open houses, internships for local college students, and the family-friendly New Year’s at Noon and Pumpkins & Pendulums events.
