Who We Are
We work with youth, starting in grade 1 as Tiger Cub Scouts, and as they grow in the Scouting program provide leadership, and character training to assist each youth in their lifetimes to be a responsible participating citizen. Youth in grades 6 through 11 are Boy Scouts, and Venture and Explorer units are Coed for ages 14-20.
Youth are provided opportunities to go to camp, learn about the outdoors, earn awards that will assist them on their journey to Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts.
The PA Dutch council enhanced all our programs to encorporate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to bring our programs in sync with Pennsylvania state education standards and core values and help students' academic achievement. New age and audience appropriate lesson plans were developed for use by leaders, and specific BSA badges are emphasized to encourage appreciation and understanding of STEM. For example, Cub Scouts (grades 1 to 5) work on Fitness, Citizenship, Geology, Handyman, Outdoorsman, Geography, Reading & Writing, Good Manners, Map & Compass, Mathematics and Nutrition.
What We Do
We are the local Council for the Boy Scouts of America, headquartered in Lancaster, PA. The council includes the counties of Lebanon and Lancaster and we service thousands of youth with the assistance of trained volunteers and professional staff by preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath & Law.
