Who We Are

The Lancaster County Housing and Redevelopment Authorities, acting on behalf of the Lancaster County Commissioners, administer programs to carry-out housing and homeless assistance activities, community planning and economic development activities. Funding for these activities is provided to local organizations and agencies, governmental entities, and housing developers. The Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority administers the federal Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) and the Emergency Shelter Grant Program (ESG) for Lancaster County. Funding from these programs totals approximately $5,000,000 per year and is disbursed in accordance with the goals established in Lancaster County's Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A portion of the CDBG funds will be used for human/public service activities, such as: day care services, counseling services, medical services, youth centers, domestic violence programs, elderly services, legal services, housing counseling, employment training, etc. Organizations requesting CDBG funds for these activities must submit funding request applications to the Redevelopment Authority during the winter for funds to be available beginning in July of the following year. Citizen advisory groups will review these applications. We are currently seeking volunteers to serve on the advisory groups. If you are interested in volunteering your time to serve on an advisory group to review human/public service requests for funding, contact Aimee Tyson, Community Development Director, at (717) 394-0793 or atyson@lchra.com. Or, complete the volunteer form and we will contact you. The review process for 2007 funding begins in February.
