

Who We Are
The goal of Special Olympics is to help develop the physical, social, psychological, intellectual and spiritual qualities of individual participants through sports training and competition To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Our athletes train locally and if qualified travel to inter county/regional/state and international competitions. We are looking for volunteers to help with the coaching functions( experience or not) and our local Management Committee which meets on the third Monday of each month( Except July and December) at 7:00 PM at Loving & Caring, 219 Witmer Rd, Lancaster, PA
What We Do
Special Olympics Lancaster County was founded in 1983. We have developed from offering one sport(track & field) in our first year to now offering 16 sports year round in a various locations. We currently have 335 athletes participating in our program. There is no cost to any athlete to participate in our programs. We pay for all training sites/equipment/uniforms/travel expenses, etc.
