Who We Are
Our mission is To Advance the Independence of People with Disabilities. United Disabilities Services will promote the full inclusion of people with disabilities into all aspects of life and areas of our society; support the stability of the family unit; publicly promote valued social roles for people with disabilities; and heighten society's consciousness about the potential that each of its citizens with a disability has to contribute in productive and meaningful ways. United Disabilities Services(UDS)provides a network of programs that assists individuals with disabilities to become integrated into all aspects of life and areas of our society. As a Certified Medical Assistance Provider, UDS provides direct services that prevent institutionalization and support individuals to live in their own home. Services are provided wherever the services are needed, in home, on the job site, in training programs, over the telephone and in the community. Through a network of business partners and satellite locations UDS is the leading disability provider in Pennsylvania.
What We Do
United Disabilities Services, formerly United Cerebral Palsy of Lancaster County, was founded in 1970 by Reverend Theodore Schneider. Rev. Schneider was concerned when members of his parish, those who had disabilities, could not attend movies because of inadequate accessibility. He decided to begin showing movies at his church, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
