Week of Caring 2026

September 14–19, 2026

Week of Caring is a community-wide volunteer initiative that brings together individuals, businesses, and local organizations to make a meaningful difference through service. During this special week, volunteers have the opportunity to support nonprofit organizations throughout Lancaster County by participating in hands-on projects that strengthen our community and help advance important missions.

From September 14–19, 2026, volunteers will come together to share their time, skills, and passion while helping local nonprofits complete impactful projects. Whether it’s organizing, beautifying spaces, assisting with programs, or supporting community needs, every volunteer hour helps create positive change.

Nonprofit organizations are invited to submit volunteer projects that engage community members and provide meaningful opportunities for service. Businesses, teams, families, and individuals are encouraged to participate and experience the power of giving back.

Together, we can build stronger connections, support the organizations making a difference every day, and celebrate the spirit of community through Week of Caring 2026.

Week of Caring Volunteer Opportunity Library Outdoor Beautification at Adamstown Area Library

Project Description

Help enhance the outdoor spaces at Adamstown Area Library through a community beautification project. Volunteers will assist with improving the library grounds by placing donor bricks within mulch beds and helping weed and maintain flower beds.

This project is a great opportunity to support a beloved community resource while helping create a welcoming and beautiful outdoor environment for library visitors.

Volunteer Details

Number of Volunteers Needed: 3–5 volunteers
Project Duration: Approximately 3 hours
Minimum Age: 16 years old

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome.
Gardening experience is helpful but not required.
Experience with donor brick placement is beneficial.
Volunteers should enjoy working outdoors and helping with light landscaping tasks.

What to Wear

Please wear:

Comfortable outdoor clothing
Closed-toe shoes suitable for gardening and outdoor work

Additional equipment details will be provided closer to the project date.

Parking and Check-In Information

Parking:
Off-street parking is available at the library.

Adamstown Area Library is located one block west of N. Reading Road in Adamstown and approximately 3 miles north of the Reamstown/Adamstown exit of 222N. Please use the library’s street address for directions.

Check-In:
Volunteers should enter the library and ask for the Library Director at the circulation desk.

Accessibility and Weather Plan

This project is wheelchair accessible.
In the event of inclement weather, volunteers may either reschedule or transition to an indoor project based on team preference.
