Week of Caring 2026

September 14–19, 2026

Week of Caring is a community-wide volunteer initiative that brings together individuals, businesses, and local organizations to make a meaningful difference through service. During this special week, volunteers have the opportunity to support nonprofit organizations throughout Lancaster County by participating in hands-on projects that strengthen our community and help advance important missions.

From September 14–19, 2026, volunteers will come together to share their time, skills, and passion while helping local nonprofits complete impactful projects. Whether it’s organizing, beautifying spaces, assisting with programs, or supporting community needs, every volunteer hour helps create positive change.

Nonprofit organizations are invited to submit volunteer projects that engage community members and provide meaningful opportunities for service. Businesses, teams, families, and individuals are encouraged to participate and experience the power of giving back.

Together, we can build stronger connections, support the organizations making a difference every day, and celebrate the spirit of community through Week of Caring 2026.

Project Save the Villa – Refresh Faith Friendship Villa | United Way of Lancaster County’s Week of Caring

Join Faith Friendship Villa (FFV) during United Way of Lancaster County’s Week of Caring for Project Save the Villa – Refresh!

Faith Friendship Villa provides safe, supportive housing and personal care for 68 adults living with serious mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Volunteers will help refresh and improve the spaces our residents call home, creating a welcoming, comfortable, and well-maintained community.

What Will Volunteers Do?

Volunteers may assist with a variety of hands-on projects, including:

Painting interior and exterior spaces
Landscaping and outdoor beautification
Cleaning and organizing shared spaces
Purging and organizing
General property improvements
Other projects that help refresh the Villa

No special experience is needed! Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome. Whether you're comfortable with a paintbrush, enjoy organizing, or simply want to lend a helping hand, there’s a way for you to make a difference.

Volunteer Details

Volunteer Team Size: 6–10 volunteers
Age Requirement: 16+
Experience: No experience necessary
Project Length: Approximately 3 hours, with the possibility of extending to 4 hours if needed
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible
Weather Plan: Both indoor and outdoor projects are available, with interior projects planned in the event of inclement weather.

What to Wear

Please wear:

Closed-toe shoes
Long pants
T-shirts
Comfortable clothing suitable for hands-on work

Parking & Check-In

Volunteers may park in the lot in front of the house along Main Street.

Upon arrival, enter the building and a member of the Faith Friendship Villa team will welcome you. Volunteers will receive an orientation, review the available projects, and be divided into teams with a team lead for each project.
