Description

Volunteers are the Heart of Hospice & Community Care

"Hospice isn't about dying in the end. It's about living till the end." - HCC volunteer

Looking for a unique & incredibly rewarding way to serve your local community and make a difference? Hospice & Community Care's Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center in Mount Joy is a beautiful 24-bed facility designed to be a "home away from home" for patients and their families.

The Inpatient Center needs ongoing volunteer support for the following roles:

  • Foyer Volunteers: Be the first smiling face patients and their families see when they enter the Inpatient Center. Foyer volunteers assist families and visitors by providing directions, answering questions and providing a calm, welcoming presence.
  • Inpatient Center Wing Volunteers: Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, assist the staff with patient support, help with meal preparation and making coffee, organizing and restocking kitchen/pantry supplies, patient laundry, and bringing a hospitality cart to patients and visitors.
  • Meal Time Support Wing Volunteers: Support hospice staff during patient meal times by helping to prepare meals, deliver meals to patient rooms, and assist patients with feeding if they need more assistance.
  • Music Support Volunteer: Offers the gift of music to patients in the Inpatient Center (voice or instrument).

To become a Hospice & Community Care volunteer, you just need to have a compassionate heart and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Training is provided for all volunteers, with both in-person and online options offered throughout the year. A team of dedicated Volunteer Coordinators are available to provide continued support.

If you are interested in learning more about these opportunities or joining our amazing Volunteer corps, please contact Jen Horan at (717) 735-2466 or email jhoran@hospicecommunity.org.
