Museum Fall Refresh: Week of Caring Project 2026

Calendar Sep 14, 2026 through Sep 19, 2026

Description

Hands-On House Children's Museum of Lancaster

Help prepare the Hands-On House Children's Museum of Lancaster for an exciting new season by joining the Museum Fall Refresh during Week of Caring 2026 (September 14–19, 2026)!

After a busy summer welcoming thousands of young learners and families, the museum is ready for a refresh. Volunteers will work together to beautify the grounds, improve exhibits, and help create a clean, welcoming environment for children to explore, play, and learn.

Volunteer Activities

Projects may include:

  • Gardening, weeding, mulching, and spreading rock
  • Cleaning outdoor play structures and toys
  • Interior and exterior paint touch-ups
  • Deep cleaning exhibits, toys, floors, and surfaces
  • Dusting and exhibit maintenance
  • Creating or painting exhibit pieces
  • Updating exhibit labels and signage
  • And other hands-on improvement projects!

Rain or shine, there's a way to help! If outdoor work is affected by the weather, volunteers will transition to meaningful indoor projects.
